Description

The construction of the church near the train station was initiated by railroad workers themselves. In 1896 a committee for the construction of the Roman Catholic church was established. Roman Catholic consistory has supported the initiative and provided the part of the funds. The rest was supposed to be collected in the form of donations. Fundraising was complicated by poor harvest of 1902. In 1903 the Society for construction of the railway church. was established, the statute was developed. The purpose of the partnership was the construction of a branch of the Roman Catholic church for Roman Catholics and Greek Catholics to mark the 50-year reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Construction of the temple was conducted for 5 years, and in 1908 it was opened. The premises of church are built of brick. With the advent of Soviet power the church was closed. By 1945 the church has stopped working, but it was still under the control of priests and parish. It was left ownerless due to massive exodus of Polish people to Poland. The property was partly taken to Poland, partly transferred to operating Roman Catholic church. The building of the church of St. Anthony was passed in 1946 to railway specialized school. Since 2004 it was transferred to the ownership of Ukrainian Greek Catholic church of Kolomyia-Chernivtsi eparchy. The temple nowadays performs the mission for which it was built. Architectural memorial of local significance.
