This hotel was famous for its winter garden. It is known that Mykhailo Hrushevsky stayed here in 1894 when he worked in Lviv and visited Chernivtsi. On this occasion, the hotel arranged a banquet. In 1900 the premises were bought by the first national cultural society of the land – Society of Romanian culture and literature, established in 1862. At first it rented the building room, but it planned to have their own one. When Dionisii Bejan was its head, then the “Weis” hotel was purchased for 174000 lei. The funds were collected from donations. It housed the Romanian literary-cultural societies “Armonie”, “Junimea”, Association of Romanian culture and literature. To expand the yard the additional space was acquired. Architectural memorial of local significance.
