Description

The first stone under the future monument to the Austrian Emperor and King of Hungary Franz Joseph the First was laid in 2008 on the occasion of celebration of the 600th anniversary of Chernivtsi. In a year, on October 3, 2009, the grand opening of the monument took place in the park on Myron Korduba street. The monument is made and installed at the expense of the leader of the faction of All-Ukrainian association “Batkivshchyna” (Motherland) in the Supreme Council of Ukraine, Chernivtsi native Arseniy Yatsenyuk. Authors of the monument – sculptor Volodymyr Tsisaryk and Honored Artist of Ukraine Sergii Ivanov. The opening ceremony of the monument was attended by the mayor of Chernivtsi M.T. Fedoruk, representatives of regional authorities, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Austria in Ukraine Josef Markus Wuketich, the public.
