Due to the increased percentage of the German population, especially after the Austro-Hungarian occupation, it was decided that it was necessary to have a special meeting place for the German ethnics. Therefore, the German House was built, which is going to have a very tumultuous history. After being established in 1926 it is turned into Community centre, since there was not such place in the town of Rădăuți. It will be used like Community centre until 1958 until the creation of current Community Centre of Rădăuți. After this year, considering the political changes, the building is turned into a cinema, which will bear the name ”Flacăra”. It is only after 1990 that the centre will return to its former use, namely that of the Centre for the Community and Promotion of the German Culture.
