Chernivtsi Regional State Administration contributes to the co-financing of the European project

2013/09/16

The project «Historical and ethnographic heritage - part of the sustainable development of tourism in Bukovina» (HERITAGE), MIS-ETC Code 829 has started its implementation on the territory of Chernivtsi region and Suceava county since May 17, 2012. The project is implemented by Chernivtsi National University in partnership with “Stefan cel Mare” University of Suceava within Joint Operational Programme Romania – Ukraine – Republic of Moldova 2007-2013 and aims to develop tourism infrastructure by increasing attractiveness of the border areas. Total budget of the project makes up 1 474 463,00 euro, including the budget for the project of Chernivtsi National University that equals934 466,00 euro.

Naturally that during this project’s implementation some difficulties happen which first of all lie in the difference between Ukrainian and European legislation.

According to the terms of the project the University should implement co-financing, which consists of 10% of the total amount. At the same time, this article is not included to the University’s estimate. The University asked for help in this matter to the Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration Mikhailo N. Papiev.

Must be said that the Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration reacted with attention to solve this issue and significantly contributed to the removal of these difficulties concerning obtaining co-financing of the project. At the beginning of September the University received the promised co-financing funds, which amounted to nearly 1 million hryvnias.

It is the first such large-scale project for the University that is of such great importance both for the University and for the region in general, as one of its main objectives is to promote tourism opportunities in Northern and Southern Bukovina and also to increase the flow of tourists.
