Description

This church was built at the Horecha monastery in 1730. After transportation it stands is at the outskirts of the city, at the cemetery of the former Haryachy Urban village in the picturesque countryside, among hills and ravines. A small and wooden one, it is one of the most interesting examples of religious buildings of house type, common in Bukovina in the XV - XVIII centuries. Three pyramidal tops of it, covering the square babynets, and central wooden frame and faceted altar, are hidden under a high four-slope roof. Walls of altar part are plastered and whitewashed. The belfry is a two-tier quadrangle of a frame construction. The church operated in Soviet times as well. It was withdrawn from the use of Orthodox community in the early 80s to pass it to the newly created Museum of Architecture and Life. But because of the remoteness and lack of funds, the church continued to deteriorate: the roof leaked, the wooden frames distorted, the structures were affected by fungus. Now it is transferred to the UOC, restored and functioning. Architectural memorial of national significance.
