Description

Chernivtsi literary-memorial museum of Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu (1850-1889) was founded in 1992. M. Eminescu lived in Chernivtsi intermittently for over eight years (1858-1866). During his stay in our city M. Eminescu lived in the apartment of his literature teacher A. Pumnul, where the museum is now situated. Today in the funds of M. Eminescu museum there are more than 2000 original exhibits, more than 800 exhibits have been registered. 519 exhibits are described. A search work for discovering new exhibits is being conducted. The museum funds include works (paintings – 18, graphic – 6) from the series “Chernivtsi and Mihai Eminescu” by the artist I.S. Vatamanica, and more than 60 art works of famous Romanian painter Sciru Verhulescu “Journey into the world of Eminescu”. At the museum farmstead the bronze bust of the poet, created by sculptor M. Hihuyanu from Bucharest, is installed.
