Description

Every year since 2007 in the regional museum of folk architecture and life is the regional folklore and ethnographic festival “From Christmas to Epiphany” held. The purpose of the holiday is the revival, preservation of traditions, customs and ceremonies, the presentation of New Year and Christmas paraphernalia of Bukovinian land, enriching the sources of authentic folklore by amateur groups. Participating in the festival are the folk-ethnographic groups from all districts of Chernivtsi region. They perform carols, malankas, shchedrivkas. This is a family holiday of folk customs, traditions and ceremonies. The holiday begins by blessing for caroling near the old wooden church. This is an ancient custom that is still preserved in some villages of Bukovyna. The bands of carolers bypass around the church with Christmas carols and shchedrivkas. And the celebration is ended with a unique rite of rozkolyada (end of carols). In the museum one can ride a horse and sleigh, taste Bukovinian dishes, buy products of decorative and applied art.
