Description

Monument of Victory was built in 1946. It is located in the park on Soborna square. Sculptor – G. L .Petrashevych, architect - V. I. Grygor. Granite obelisk, at the foot of which stands the bronze statue of a Red Army soldier, built to mark the liberation of Chernivtsi from Nazi invaders on March 29, 1944. Over time, the monument has gained the significance of the monument in honor of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. In 1973 on façade line the stellas with the names of military units that liberated the territory of Bukovyna were placed. In 2005 a capital overhaul of the podium and stylobate of the monument was performed.
