Description

In 1840, near Fălticeni, in Horodniceni commune, Rotopănești village, there is the House of Nicolae Istrate, where in 1840 operated the first girls' school and rural theatre. Nicolae Istrati (1818-1861) was a Moldavian writer and politician, who acted also as Minister of Moldavia, the main ideologist of separatists from the principality of Moldavia. Self-taught and with a better culture, Nicolae Istrati addresses an impressive range of different genres: drama, essay, poetry, newspaper column, historical documents publishing. Moreover, a series of fragments his of belletristic work are spread throughout the periodicals of the time. Starting with 1840, Nicolae Istrati unfolds a continuous journalistic activity, writing articles of history, literature, theatres, poems, fables and romance.
