This is a mosaic place of worship, built on 1883. The first sinagogue had been built closer to the center of the city in the year 1830, but the increasing number of Jewish people led to the construction of new larger edifice. The land on which it was built, was received as a result of the request submitted the Jewish community, during the visit of the emperor Franz Joseph I to Rădăuți, in 1880. The sanctification of the edifice took place on August 18, 1883, on the birthday of the emperor Franz Joseph I, the first service being officiated by the new leading rabbi of the city, Yitzhak Kunstadt. The building style was inspired by Moresque style, being a massive building, with two high towers and arches, which gives the building the aspect of an orthodox cathedral.
