Description

Grigore Vindereu was a Romanian musician and violinist of Bukovina, occupying an important role thanks to the substantial contribution he had to the artistic development of Ciprian Porumbescu. It was born as slave (a gipsy slave) in 1830 on a monastery domain near Suceava. After 1868 he became usher (the second after churchwarden) over all musicians from Suceava. Grigore Vindereu met in 1869 on the composer Ciprian Porumbescu, which was still a student of the gymnasium from Suceava. In 1871, on the feast day of Putna Monastery, which celebrated 400 years after sanctification, he leads together with Ciprian Porumbescu (two leaders at two violins) a band of 30 members in the yard of the monastery. Here, a series of compositions of Ciprian Porumbescu, inspired from the repertoire of Vindereu, but also o series of selections of verses, made on the spot by Vasile Alecsandri (who was also present at the manifestation). He died in 1888. The upper part of his funerary stone bears the following inscription "I.N.R.I. Here rests Grigore Vindereu, a music artist * 21. I. 1830 + 24. V. 1888 Rest in peace" - -
