Description

The church was built in the XVIIIth century and is situated in the cemetery of Todireşti village. It is made of fir boards, joined together in corners in dovetail and the base is carved in oak wood. It was built on a rock plinth, which was afterwards plastered. In order to protect this edifice from bad weather, the beam walls were afterwards plastered. The edifice has a steep slope roof, with very wide weaves to the west and a cover made of galvanised sheet metal. The weaves is supported by consoles made by the extension of rafters. It is small and has a rectangular shape, having the pentagonal sanctuary apse recessed compared with the rest of the building and with an open porch, on the south side. The church is foreseen with a single door, situated on the southern wall of the narthex. At the inside, the church is divided in four rooms: porch, narthex, nave and sanctuary. The open porch has a small bell tower above, made of stone masonry, being supported by four pillars which form three hollows ended with arches in full centre. The sanctuary has a recessed apse of pentagonal shape, the iconostasis being placed forwards compared to the level of recess. There are two windows: a rectangular one having equal dimensions with those in the nave and a second window of smaller dimensions. Above the sanctuary there is a semi-cylindrical vault.
