It emerged as a necessity for rest or treatment for the priests who came to Vatra Dornei. The proposal came from the Priests` Association from Bukovina, and the project was completed at Chernivtsi under the patronage of the Metropolitan of Bukovina, Vladimir Repta. The building had three different floors, being used for the accommodation of the priests who came here for rest and treatment, and having also a special place designated to prayer, in the east. The outdoor tower dominates the building and the surroundings from architectural point of view. The edifice was inaugurated in 1915 and was given the name of „Vladimir” house, which is still used today. In time, the building had different destinations. Therefore, during the First World War, it was confiscated and used to accommodate the officers from the commandment of the Austro-Hungarian troupes stationed in the city. Then, it was used as hospital for the injured. Between the two World Wars, the building was used as a hotel, opened especially during summer. During the Second World War, it was first used to harbour the refugees from the occupied territories, then to station the German officers and eventually as a hospital for those injured in war. After August 23, 1944, both the edifice and the assets were considered without owner and became the property of the state, being used as a hospital for a while, and then as a headquarters of the Mining Enterprise of Vatra Dornei. Today, it is managed by „Bucovina” mining branch, who undertook some restoration works, especially at the inside of the building.
