Description

The building of this new edifice is linked to the status the Vatra Dornei balneary and climateric resort has at European level. Therefore, in 1895, after performing chemical analyses, the catchment of the spring followed, based on modern principles and in 1896 this building was created based on the medieval castles-style. The building was also known after the name of„Falkenstein” spring, according to the name of the Minister of Agriculture of the Imperial Government, the count of Falkenstein. The name of „Sentinela” it is owed to „Sentinela” Romanian Cultural Society of Vatra Dornei, which considered the building as being a symbol of the fight of the Romanians from Dornelor country for their Union with the mother country. Even since 1897, at the new spring it was introduced the mineral water served in a glass or in small cups by young females dressed in traditional costumes. The building was also a belvedere point for the historical and cultural objectives from Vatra Dornei resort. Step by step, the capacity of the spring decreased, and with it the curative properties of the water, thus the spring had lost its importance. Consequently, from the curative spring remained only the building with its lost meaning.
